Introduction



1.0  Introduction

      
Entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship are among the terms that are often cited by people since time immemorial. This term lead to various purposes or in accordance with the definition or understanding of each individual (Mahmood et al., 2010). In addition, these terms mean and different definitions to different entrepreneurs and leaders. For example, according to Kao (1995) believes that entrepreneurship is a process of wealth creation and entrepreneurs are individuals who are involved in this process. In contrast, according to Coulter (2000) sees entrepreneurship as a process in which an individual or group of individuals using efforts and intermediaries to seek opportunities to create value and growth by meeting the needs and wishes and it needs through innovation and uniqueness, no matter what source control there used (Mahmood et al., 2010).
                                                          
In addition, Coulter also said the entrepreneur is someone who creates and operates actively (Mahmood et al., 2010). In short, the entrepreneur can be defined as someone who runs a business is so successful with the motive of gain in addition to adopting practices that strategically to succeed (Mahmood et al., 2010), while entrepreneurship is a process of exploitation of new products by an entrepreneur.

Even though there are factors that encourage individuals to become entrepreneurs or entered into the field of entrepreneurship. This is because to become a successful entrepreneur is not an easy thing, then the individuals who want to become entrepreneurs have plans against the objectives and goals to be achieved to give support and encouragement to themselves to be able to face any potential risks, Among the factors that encourage entrepreneurs is goal achievement, safety, status, power, passion, and self-satisfaction.

So, entrepreneurs are considered successful when desires, goals and objectives of the venture themselves in the field of entrepreneurship has been achieved as planned (Mahmood et al., 2010). In addition, entrepreneurs prefer to act to carry out their duties without bondages others. This is because they feel the freedom of the fair of force or threat of loss in areas such as personal safety, the safety, economic stability and so on (Mahmood et al., 2010).

Furthermore, every human needs and respect their status. In other words, someone to take care of her status will strive to elevate himself in a more comfortable level and higher. Especially, when an entrepreneur will not be regarded as a successful if they are not able to improve their living status (Mahmood et al., 2010). Entrepreneurs also need the power to mobilize all resources to achieve the objectives that have been set (Mahmood et al., 2010). Finally, entrepreneurs are interested in the field of entrepreneurship will always work hard and be able to manage resources effectively (Mahmood et al., 2010).

Therefore, to distinguish an entrepreneur who has successfully and have achieved the goals set will have the characteristics of its own entrepreneurs. For example, among the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs according to the study McClelland is an initiative themselves, can see and seize opportunities, find information effectively, emphasizing the quality of work is high, to commit to an agreement, have systematic planning, solving problems creative, high self-confidence, to convince others, and use strategies to that effect (Mahmood et al., 2010).
